A legendary goalkeeper: Ignacio Eizaguirre
The former goalkeeper marked an era at Valencia CF and also competed with CA Osasuna
Next Sunday, March 1st at 16:15, Valencia CF will face CA Osasuna at Mestalla. One of the great legends of the Valencian side, Ignacio Eizaguirre, defended both crests.
Eizaguirre arrived at the Club after his spell at Real Sociedad. His debut in the 1941-42 season marked an unforgettable era for Valencia CF. The Guipuzcoan legend was a LaLiga champion on three occasions (1941-42/1943-44/1946-47), Copa champions in 1949 and Copa Eva Duarte 1948/49 winners, in addition to winning two Zamora trophies (1944 and 1945) in his nine seasons as a Valencia CF player.
Thanks to his enormous performances with Valencia CF, the San Sebastián native made his debut in 1945 with the Spain national football team, with whom he played a total of 18 matches.
On the other hand, after making history with the Valencian side, Eizaguirre moved on to Real Sociedad and CA Osasuna. He defended the ‘rojillo’ side for four seasons (1956-1960).
